Reaching the truth through reason in the Qur'an...

  

 No other holy text has such an intense and clear emphasis on reaching the truth through reasoning as in the Qur'an.

• In Islam, orders and prohibitions exist for people who have reached puberty and whose minds have matured.

• In Islam, there is no responsibility for anyone who has no intelligence.

• Many verses in the Qur'an appeal to the mind.

“Do you ever think? There are many verses such as "Do you not use your mind at all?, There is a verse for those who use their minds".

• When the Qur'an is read, it is seen that non-believers do not use their minds, while believers reach the truth through reason and thinking.

• The Qur'an invites reason and thinking at every opportunity. In many verses, there are expressions of "reasoning and thinking" with different examples.

• No other scripture has such an intense and clear emphasis on reaching the truth through reasoning.

Some verses about using your mind:

Surely, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for those with clear understanding.

(Sura AL-I IMRAN / 190)

There are signs for a people who use their reason in the succession (or contradiction) of night and day, the way Allah sends sustenance from the sky and resurrects the earth after its death, and directs the winds (in a certain order).

(Surah JUDGMENT / 5)

He has put the night, the day, the sun and the moon under your command; the stars were also made ready for command by His command. Surely, there are signs in this for a people who can use their reason.

(Sura NAHL / 12)[/U]

There are adjacent continents on Earth; There are also vineyards, crops, forked and unforked date palms, which are irrigated with the same water; but in their products (in yield and taste), we make some of them superior to others. Surely, in these are signs for a people who use their reason.

(Sura RA'D / 4)

The life of this world is nothing but a game and a distraction. The abode of the Hereafter is indeed better for those who fear. Will you still not make sense?

(Sura EN'AM / 32)

This is how Allah explains His verses to you; that you may understand.

(Sura BAQARA / 242)

He gives wisdom to whom He wills; Surely, a great good has been given to him who has been given wisdom. No one takes advice except those with a clean mind.

(Sura BAQARA / 269)

 

Say: "If Allah had willed, I would not have recited it to you and would not have made it known to you. I spent a lifetime in your midst before that. Will you still not understand?"

(Sura Yunus / 16)

 

Do they not roam the earth, so that they may have hearts with which to reason and ears with which to hear? For the truth is that the eyes do not go blind, but the hearts in the breasts do.

(Sura HAJ / 46)

He said, "He is the Lord of the east and the west, and everything in between, if you can use your intellect."

(SURA SUARA / 28)

 

We have certainly left there a clear sign for a people who can understand.

(SURE ANKEBUT / 35)

 

Here are these examples; we give them to people. However, none other than scholars can make sense of them.

Those who hear the word and follow the best of it. These are the people whom Allah has guided, and they are the people of pure intellect.

(It is) a guide and a reminder for those who have a clean mind.

(Sura MU'MIN / 54)

 

And they say: "If we had listened or had reasoned, we would not have been among the people of this wildly burning fire."

(PROPERTY DURATION / 10)

 

They remember Allah (always), standing, sitting, and lying on their sides, and meditate on the creation of the heavens and the earth (and say:) Our Lord! You did not create this for nothing. We glorify you. Protect us from the torment of hell.
